初のオンライン開催〜香港作品が連続グランプリ

新型コロナ禍が世界を覆う中で、映像を通じた相互理解を掲げるDigiCon6 ASIAは、作品募集、審査、表彰という映像祭の柱を堅持しつつ、第22回授賞式等は東京に戻って、11月28日（土）にオンライン開催。各地域の受賞者らが、ネットを通じて結集する展開となり、この模様は全世界に向けてライブ配信された。
また新たに、ラオス、モンゴルが参加し、16の地域から1217点の応募作品が寄せられた。前回に比べて2割ほど減少したのは、新型コロナウイルス問題の影響と見られる。

グランプリには、2年連続で香港の作品「「Dragon's Delusion:Preface」に。人間とサイボーグを対比させながら、時空を越えた壮大な世界観を独特のタッチで描いた内容だった。作品には新型コロナ問題に影響を受けたものや、国連のSDGsに沿ったものなど、アジアの今を映し出す内容が目に付いた。

SDGsについては、TBSも「地球を笑顔にするweek」を展開（11月23日〜29日）していた期間でもあり、DigiCon6 ASIAが取り組んできたSDGs活動についても紹介した。 2019年から展開した「around and around」プロジェクトも、2020年に引き続き展開。一本の線で繋がろうと呼びかけたプロジェクトは、コロナ禍で一段と意義が増し、映像を通じた連帯を強く呼びかけるものとなった。

これに先立つJAPAN Awards授賞式は、10月23日（土）、東京都写真美術館にて開催し、日本での応募作品369点の中から各賞が選定された。Youth部門の審査には、「映像研には気をつけろ」の漫画家大童澄瞳氏が初参加した。

DigiCon6 ASIA promotes mutual understanding through the visual arts.
While in the midst of the new coronavirus, it remained committed to
its efforts to ask for works, judging them and recognizing excellent
films. The 22nd award ceremony returned to be held online in Tokyo on
Saturday, November 28. Winners from each region gathered on the
Internet, and the ceremony was broadcast live to the whole world. Laos
and Mongolia were new participants last year and 1,217 entries were
submitted from 16 regions. The number of works submitted decreased by
about 20% compared to the previous year, a fact mostly attributed to
the new coronavirus outbreak.

A work from Hong Kong, “Dragon's Delusion: Preface" won the Grand
Prize for the second consecutive year. While contrasting humans and
cyborgs, the film depicts a magnificent view of the world that
transcends time and space with a unique touch. Many of the submitted
films reflected the current situation in Asia, such as the impact from
the new coronavirus and the theme of the U.N.’s SDGs.

On the subject of SDGs, TBS held a "week to make the earth smile"
(November 23-29), and introduced the SDGs activities that DigiCon6
ASIA has been working on. The "around and around" project, which began
in 2019, continued in 2020. The project, which calls for connecting a
single line became even more relevant in the face of the virus
outbreak as it strongly called for solidarity through images.

Prior to the final awards ceremony, the JAPAN Awards Ceremony was held
on Saturday, October 23, at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, and
awards were selected from 369 entries submitted in Japan. AWARA
Sumito, a cartoonist, joined as a juror for the youth division for the
first time. Sumito is the author of “KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF EIZOUKEN!”
