Promoting the use of renewable energies
In 2018, the Group entered into a capital and business alliance with Minna Denryoku [Everyone’s Power] (currently UPDATER Inc.), a startup dealing with renewable energy, to promote the use of renewable energy.
In December 2018, the Toda Transmitting Station, which is the main transmitting station for TBS Radio’s AM wave broadcasting, began using 100% renewable energy, followed by three more cultural facilities, including TBS Akasaka ACT Theater, in October 2019.Furthermore, in FY 2021 the Midoriyama Studio succeeded in converting to using 100% renewable energy.
For the initial year, the energy was procured through the purchase of “J-Credits,” which were derived from renewable energy generated via solar power generators installed on domestic residences. As a result, Midoriyama Studio became one of the largest 100% renewable energy studios in Japan. Starting with the spring programming of 2021, the scenes of every TBS drama shot inside the studio will be using 100% renewable energy.Reports of actions toward environment
