Personal Data

We manage a large volume of personal information and various related data.
These are collectively referred to herein as “Personal Data”.

What is Personal Data?

Personal Data includes personal information (information that can identify a specific living individual) as defined by Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Informationn (the “APPI”) as well as informative information (information related to individuals that, on its own, cannot identify a specific individual).
Examples of Personal Data include:

1. Personal information

  • Individual’s name, address, date of birth, occupation, telephone number and e-mail address
  • Face photograph

2. Informative information

  • Browsing history on websites
  • Advertising identifiers (ad ID) and device information
  • Cookies

Handling of Personal Data

We appropriately handle Personal Data related to the services listed in the “Applicability Relationship Chart” by complying with the following matters.

  1. Personal Data will be obtained through appropriate means and used properly.
  2. Personal Data will be securely managed under a robust security system, and adequate measures will be implemented to prevent leakage.
  3. Any requests or complaints from individuals whose Personal Data is in our custody will be addressed in good faith.
  4. Personnel handling Personal Data will be appropriately supervised and provided with the necessary training.
  5. Personal Data will be used to create new value and enhance your lifestyle.

Rules for Handling Personal Data

1. Purpose of Using Personal Data

When obtaining Personal Data from customers, the purpose of use of “personal information” will be notified or publicly disclosed unless otherwise specifically provided for in the APPI, and the data will be handled appropriately. In addition, if the purpose of use is changed within the scope permitted by the APPI, the change will be promptly notified or publicly disclosed.
With regard to “informative information”, the purpose of use will be appropriately stated in the privacy policy of the services, etc., associated with the information to be obtained.
Personal Data that is no longer required will be promptly discarded or deleted.

For instance, we collect and use Personal Data from our customers for the following purposes:

  1. To connect with the program
    (This includes handling matters such as prize shipments, registration for program participation, casting call of performers, information about program fan sites, payment of appearance fees or honoraria, and responding to opinions or inquiries)
  2. To provide products and services
    (Offering information on events, etc., and sales, delivery of products, identity verification at venues, etc., management of registration and membership services, provision of services such as shareholder benefits)
  3. For surveys and research
    (Surveying viewing trends, analyzing event attendee trends, conducting market research or questionnaire surveys for service development, etc.)
  4. TBS Group business operations
    (Contacting business partners for necessary communication related to transactions, inquiries from shareholders, managing communication for recruitment and hiring activities, business-related correspondence, processing compensation payments, human resources and labor management, employee benefits, health management, post-retirement procedures, etc.)
  5. For marketing
    (Development, planning, research, provision, improvement, solicitation, advertising, and other marketing activities related to products and services, research and analysis of marketing data, and review and implementation of marketing strategies)
  6. Others
    (Operation of the JNN/JRN Joint Disaster Relief Fund, maintenance and management of real estate businesses, and other operational activities related to corporate functions)

2. Joint Use of Personal Data

We will jointly use Personal Data obtained from you with TBS Group companies and other companies involved in joint ventures, etc. with us. However, an entity responsible for managing personal information will be appointed to publicly disclose in advance what information will be shared, with whom, and for what purpose.

3. Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties

We may provide your Personal Data to third parties. However, personal information will be shared only under the following circumstances:

  1. When prior consent has been obtained from the individual
  2. When data is outsourced to third parties to achieve the purpose of use
  3. When shared with the joint users
  4. In other cases where the provision of information is permitted by applicable laws or regulations
