Handling in the Field of News Reporting and Writing / Expression (including content creation)

This section explains our approach to handling personal data for news reporting and writing / expression. In this section, “writing / expression” includes content creation.

As a journalistic organization, we handle a significant volume of personal information in producing news and programs. However, in doing so, we are exempt from various obligations stipulated under theAPPI. This aligns with the citizens’ “right to know”, guaranteed by the Constitution of Japan, and aims to protect the “freedom of the press” and “freedom of expression.” On the other hand, because we are not legally obligated, we must handle your personal information appropriately and disclose this responsibility to the public.
The position of personal information related to news reporting and writing / expression within the scope of personal data is outlined below.

We handle personal information for the purpose of news reporting and writing / expression as follows.

1. We will strive to use appropriate means when acquiring personal information during news gathering. As a general rule, we notify individuals when their personal information is handled for the purpose of news reporting and writing / expression. However, if it is objectively clear that the information is for news gathering, or if explicitly stating this is difficult, we will handle the matter appropriately in accordance with the regulations of the relevant department handling the information.
2. Personal information related to news reporting and writing / expression is, in principle, not used for purposes other than news reporting and writing / expression. When handling personal information related to news reporting and writing / expression for purposes other than news writing or the creation of literary works, we will notify individuals of the purpose of use and obtain their consent.
3.
