On Operations:
Chala Police Station is an area about 20000m2 the suspected mined area is close to an old Police Station. During the armed conflict the government troops positioned there dug defensive trenches and then laid mines outside the trenches as form of protecting sabotage actions or any attack to the position. At this area we already cleared about 1571m2 and destroyed 3x POMZ 2M mines, as a mine line, according to our plan and staff we have this task will take more two to three weeks more pending on the rain.
On Life in general:
My name is Fernando Mussuria, I was born in Nampula province in district called Mogincual, I’m married, with three children, two boys not yet at school but the daughter does and she is attending standard three. I did my primary school at Mogincual district then Angoche for my secondary level at Escola Secondaria de Angoche up to grade eight; I did not go further because of money resources.
I join HALO as a Deminer since 2001 by radio announcement.
Before HALO I was working at World Vision International as a store man, good salary, but unfortunately my contract with them finished...
I am a Catholic and I’m a supporter of Frelimo’s Party. I do drink, smoke.
I’m proud of my self.
When I found the first mine I wasn’t afraid but curios. The big issue for me is wake up early in the morning to go the minefield very day but, I got used to it.
Since I join HALO no problems with my team at all.
I miss a lot my wife and family when I’m from them for long time or when the campaign prolongs.
On the future I would like to give to my children the better education.
