Mozambique Diary October 26 - November 2, 2003

On operations:
We're near to Finnish our task period of six weeks on the field will have our week leave at the end of this month but we're looking forward to our Christmas leave. We are working at Mussala's village an area of approximately 40.052m2 near Cuamba district according to our plans and average of square metres a day we presume to Finnish our task at end of Year but also depends on rain season and during this month (November) until now we cleared 3824m2 so far , since we started here we had always a metal problems (high soil contamination) now we're going to work on team of one section, this ground after clearance will benefit the populations and they can make farms and use the church for praying and more benefits.
The life in general
My name is Guerreiro Luis Abilio, with 27 years old, was born in Zambezia at Quelimane , married, resident in Zambezia in Sinacura Village, with no child.
I Studied until grade two of electrician course at Macuse Primary and Secondary Educations district of Zambezia province and did not go further because economical problems "money".
I join HALO as a Deminer then Paramedic by radio announcement.
I am a Catholic and a supporter of Renamo's Party. I do drink and smoke but no dance.
Before join to HALO I was not working was just helping as a part-time at CNE(National Commission of Elections) now I'm happy because I've got my own house which I built with the money which I end in HALO, I would like to have on my house all the best.
I fill my self good with the responsibility I've no problems at all on a team.
I use to have a problems or difficulties in attending my family when the campaign prolongs .
On my demining experience I already found three mines only at the first I was scared but my Supervisor Mr, Edmundo Calisto and team helped me a lot.
I use to have a refreshing training which makes my skills as paramedic better.
The HALO should re-check the salaries.
