On operations:
Namanda is a village in Ile District in Zambezia Province. An area of about 7.000 square meters is suspected mined. The minefield is behind three shops; Frelimo soldiers mined the area as a defensive measure from Renamo soldier's sabotage of the shops. An accident has happened during the war when a boy stepped on an anti-personnel mine. It is a village with approximately 5.000 people, they want to re-open the shops and use the land for agriculture as well as the road that passes through the shops.
The life in general
My name is Sadala Alberto Joao Baptista; I'm twenty - five years single and I just have girl friend only with no children.
Halo is my first employment in life. I never worked before; I was studying at school.
I joined HALO in 15 February 2003, and I´m so glad to be in this company I can see that it cares about the employees and also respects the deminer. I know that for a person nothing is enough but till now I can feel good relation ship between HALO and the staff.
Talking about my experiencies, I did standart 10 at school and have also done 2nd level in English.
Last week we did our activities very well but in the mornings there were some rains and this makes our job slow. In afternoons we use to complete the job that was to be done in the morning period. This week, the job was stressful because we had to work one more week in the campaign because of The HALO Trust Africa desk's visit.
Last week I had malaria and I was not feeling well in the first days of the week so, I returned to work in Wednesday.
During this period I was sick I saw the difference between Paramedic and Medic because they don't even know what is the difference between fever and pain, they just give what they know.
Day after day we use to play soccer and make our relantionship stronger. We live like a big family in the weekend we go to the village to relax.
I wish one day I become a radio operator.
