On operations:

Frelimo soldiers to prevent Renamo guerrilla to destroy the dam and their barracks laid anti-personnel and anti-tank mines in the north region of Mount Mitucue, this a dam that supplies electricity to the Cumba village. These mines pose danger to the local communities and farmers who live near by that area. Accidents were reported in the area, a man called Joao Mopila lost his leg on a mine accident when he was threatening monkeys out of farm.

The life in general

My name is Muniz Guilherme I was born in Zambezia Province in a district called Maganja da Costa in 1975, I am not married however I do have a handsome son, he's only six months old. I did my primary school in Quelimane in a school called 3 de Fevereiro then I went to a school called Escola Secundaria 25 de Setembro, I did not go further than standard 8 because my family could not pay my school fees anymore.

When I left school I started working for a garage, the salary was not good enough, and when I heard from a friend of mine that HALO was looking for people to work with them I quit my job in the garage and joined HALO in 1998. when I was accepted to work for HALO during the demining training I was a bit afraid, I thought I was not going to be able to do the job, slowly by slowly I became confident of my job and now I am doing very well, the salary is much better comparing with the one in garage.

I have a dream of building my house, I'm saving part of my salary for building, pay my son and my education in the future, the relationship with my colleagues is fine although I had trouble with a supervisor in the past, this supervisor is no longer working for HALO.

I am working very hard so I can one day be a supervisor then be a POM(provincial operation manager)
