Mozambique Diary June 10 - 14, 2002

On operations:
This week was an emotional week for our team, this is because for most of the team, including me saw for the first time an anti-tank mine before it was destroyed. We have been talking about nothing else but the anti tank mine and now we all want to find others, we hope it will happen. I joined HALO in November of 2001, since then I have already detected 28 mines. This week I cleared 150m2 and I did not find any mine.
In the last few days in the zone where we are, called Zonas Verdes (Green Zone), became very cold and the dawns have been very misty, we are protected with our overalls.
I have no reason to complain about my team, we work hard and perfectly helping each other. I feel happy by working for The HALO Trust, because I am getting more experienced about my job with the support of the expatriates who are operating in the country.
The life in general
I am Mozambican, originally from the Province of Zambezia. I am 28 years of age and am not married. I have some friends who have three children. I am a Christian but I do not usually go to Church, but I do believe in God.
I have no interest in politics but I do support the party in power, which is FRELIMO. It is a very good idea of wearing uniforms at The HALO Trust because I do save my clothes and money that should spent for shopping.
