1. Overview
Clearance of Toul Prasat IV minefield started on 1st September2001. It is estimated clearance will be complete in January, 2002. Most people who were resettled in this contaminated area are post integration demobilised military personnel and families with a high level of amputees. Due to shortage of un contaminated land in the village for rice fields (cultivation), the village chief requested HALO to clear a mined area of about 24,130 sqm, which will be distributed to 7 families for rice field and casualty reduction for 265 pupils in Toul Prasat School, which is closely located to the mine field.
In September, 2001 HALO/AAR TBS funded manual 2 sections working on Toul Prasat IV minefield where they demined 5,752m2 of land, found and destroyed three mines and fourteen UXOs
This mine field send New Holland bush cutter for increasing the speed of manually clearance, because the mine field had a lot of bushes with small tree has be growing very fast and some part were soil and metal contamination.
