Angola Diary 24th -30th November 2003
|
My name is Paulina Dumda, and I am 19 years old. I have only started working for MAG in February this year, when I started work to assist in the finances. Before that there was no assistant in the finance for MAG in Cunene. But this job is important because we need to control our money and spend it wisely on things that are needed by the deminers. Each time they go to camp I need to give them money. This week they went camping, and each time they are given some money to buy food and water while they are camping. We need to make sure we give the correct money on time.
This is my first job after finished my schooling, and I am very pleased that MAG has give me an opportunity to work in such an important job to help Angola lose the landmines. These are everywhere after the many years of fighting. But in the town of Ondjiva there are no mines, and this is where I have lived my life. For the people in the other areas it is much worse.
In the future I would like to get more training to do other things such as management. But at the moment I am happy to do my job as Finance Assistant, and can get paid for this job.
I am hoping that next year we can get the funds to do more important work. This work is so important to us here in Cunene. We appreciate the help of the TBS.
Many thanks to all the people in Japan who support our work.
