Angola Diary
10th -16th November 2003

I am writing my second diary for TBS. It has been a busy year for our team, we have worked hard on the minefields near to Cuvelai town, and also we have done a lot of clearance of unexploded weapons reported to MAG. Recently we have been working in Cuvelai minefield, but because it is the near the end of the year we have done a lot of Spot Tasks. This is because we will stop work for 3 weeks for the annual leave in middle of December. It is important that any tasks have been done or people might try to move the items themselves. During these tasks we have removed lots of mortars and some grenades.

One thing that I hope in 2004 is that we can get more training to help identify these items better. At the moment only some of the deminers can do this work. I would like to get more training in this area so we can do our work more effficiently.

Next week we will have a break Ondjiva town and then go camping for one more time before the break. I am looking forward to the holiday as I have worked hard. I can spend some time with my family and also can do some things to my house.

I hope that the work MAG did this year will have a big benefit and help Angola become more peaceful. And I hope that in 2004 we can continue our work, as there are still many jobs to do in Cunene.

Yours
