Marimo Mochizuki (Aya Ueto) is a high school student who lives with her mother who dies leaving Marimo alone with her grief. She is going through her mother’s papers when she comes across an unfamiliar name - that of her father. Marimo sets off to meet him. When seeing him, she gets a big shock. He is way far from what she pictured as her father. His name is Shinpei Kirishima (Kazuki Kitamura) and is a 38-year-old would-be private detective. He claims to have no daughter, until he sees the paperwork - much to his surprise! Marimo doesn’t miss the expression on his face. She resigns herself to the fact that this is her father. She sees his disordered lifestyle and the first thing that escapes her lips is “The worst father in the world!”

Motoharu Akiyama (Kenji Sakaguchi) is an elite pilot who has just completed astronaut training at NASA. Something happened in his past that caused him to go out searching for the meaning and purpose of life. However, he hasn’t been able to find a satisfactory reply and the void in his heart has only expanded. But Akiyama has a meeting that changes his life. He meets Reiko Nishina (Hitomi Kuroki), a director at an investment bank, who is looking at investing in an attempt at the first Japanese space shuttle launch. Although the meeting was pure chance, it affects Reiko greatly. She realizes that although it looks like she has everything, there is something she wants that she doesn’t have. And this meeting has an effect on those around them also...

Twenty-seven years ago TBS aired Taichi Yamada’s “Welcome to the High Plains.” It was very popular at the time across all ages and remains popular to this day. It tells the story of people interacting with other people and the complications that sometimes ensue in a warm and still relevant way. This is the first remake of Taichi Yamada’s story. The lead is played by Koichi Sato who is joined by Masahiko Nishimura, Haruka Igawa, Ken Horiuchi, Nobuyo Oyama, Muga Takewaki, Kimiko Yo and Bunta Sugawara in a grand cast.

Seiji Omokawa (Koichi Sato) used to be the manager of a top hotel. He is entrusted with reopening a hotel in the high plains that has been boarded up and closed for years. He has been given a budget of \20 million. Omokawa interviews staff by himself, looking for interesting characters and starts work rebuilding the hotel. However, his attempts to get a top chef as a drawing-card fail. The staff members start worrying about the hotel’s future and try to leave. He is happy to have got through the job-hunting season and to have secured employment. But his new job is a battlefield as his company competes for its future. Toji Kashiwaba (Tsuyoshi Domoto) is a manager of the daily dish section of a medium sized department store. He is new on the job and has a tough boss making every day a real struggle. Meanwhile he starts going out with Nao (Rina Uchiyama), an elevator girl he met at initial training and things seem to be looking up for him.
One day, a new account manager from an advertising agency visits Toji’s food division - it’s none other than Toji’s ex-girlfriend from university, Makoto Saeki (Ryoko Hirosue). Toji is surprised to see her again but Makoto greets him as she has never met him before. Just at that moment, there is a problem in his section.
Toji has to deal with his tough job, a forward Nao and Makoto who dumped him. He is caught in the middle.
