13th TBS DigiCon6 General Rules for Application

TBS DigiCon6 Awards is an annual competition held each fall, for the objective of seeking and recognizing talented creators throughout Asia (13th TBS DigiCon6 participating regions: Japan, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand:) and rewarding them for their outstanding works. DigiCon6 furthermore provides these creators with opportunities to expand their creative ground by supporting their innovative minds and activities year-round.
All submitted Works will be reviewed and judged by TBS DigiCon6 Awards organization members and a panel of industry experts - based on the quality of work, ideas, and originality.
TBS DigiCon6 Awards is sponsored by Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings, Inc. and Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc., and organized by the TBS DigiCon6 Headquarters.

  1. Eligibility

    1) The competition is open to everyone; regardless of age, gender, nationality, or professional/amateur status.
    2) Entries can be made by individuals or as a group.
    3) Applicants must fully comply with the Entry Rules, including the deadline, entry material requirements, as well as terms and conditions.
    4) Non-Japanese language Works must have sub-titles in Japanese or English, or be submitted with dialogue in Japanese or English.

  2. Awards and Prizes

    TBS DigiCon6 presents the following awards and prizes:

    < TBS DigiCon6 JAPAN Regional Awards > Competition amongst entries from Japan.

    1) Grand Prize:
    One winner. The winner receives a ¥ 200,000 cash prize.
    2) Outstanding Creativity Awards:
    Four winners. Each winner receives a ¥ 100,000 cash prize.

    * The winners of the JAPAN Grand Prize and the JAPAN Outstanding Creativity Awards; as well as five carefully selected Works from each participating region are nominated for the 14th TBS DigiCon6 Awards.br />

    1) Golden DigiCon6 Award :
    One winner. The winner receives a ¥ 500,000 cash prize, trophy, and Certificate of Excellence.
    2) Silver DigiCon6 Award :
    One winner. The winner receives a ¥ 300,000 cash prize, trophy, and Certificate of Excellence.
    3) Bronze DigiCon6 Award :
    One winner. The winner receives a ¥ 200,000 cash prize, trophy, and Certificate of Excellence.
    4) DigiCon6 Creativity Awards : Three winners. The winner receives a ¥ 50,000 cash prize, and a Certificate of Excellence.

    * Additional Awards may be presented.
    * The awardee is responsible for all applicable taxes, customs, tariffs, and similar charges or costs, if any should apply.
    * The content of the above mentioned prizes are subject to change without notice.

  3. Accepted Entries

    Any style of expression and/or themes for Works is accepted.
    Length of Works is recommended to be within 10 minutes, and should not exceed 15 minutes.

  4. Submission Format

    For entry into TBS DigiCon6 Awards, the following must be submitted:

    • 1) A completed and signed copy of the entry form
    • 2) A screening copy of the Work on Quick Time Data (recommended) / DVD /mini DV
    • 3)Sample still images of the Work on CD-ROM or DVD. (These images must be in BMP, JPG, PICT, or TIFF format with a resolution higher than 720 x 480 pixels.)
    • 4) Storyboard (if available)
      * Entry forms are available on the TBS DigiCon6 Official Website
      (http://www.digicon6.com/)
      * The DVD/CD-ROM or mini DV must be labeled with the title of the Work, contact information, and running time or file format.
      * If you wish to enter multiple works, you must submit each work separately.
  5. Copyright
    • 1) Applicants shall retain copyright of their Work.
    • 2) By signing the entry form, you warrant that the submitted Work is your original piece, and that the copyrighted material appearing in the Work is used with the written permission from the respective copyright holder(s).
  6. Submission Period

    The applicant shall submit his/her Work during the term commencing from March 1, 2012 to August 1, 2012.
    All submissions postmarked after the above deadline will not be accepted.

  7. Shipping
    • 1) All submitted materials must be delivered together in one package, either by mail or in person to TBS DigiCon6 Headquarters.
    • 2) All shipping costs for materials being submitted to TBS DigiCon6 Headquarters are the responsibility of the sender.
    • 3) TBS DigiCon6 Headquarters is not responsible for damage to submitted materials incurred during shipping.
  8. Withdrawal of Submission materials

    TBS DigiCon6 Headquarters reserves the right to disqualify any entry, at its sole discretion, that is considered to be inappropriate for the Awards.
    That includes, but is not limited to the following:

  9. Right to Utilize the Work

    The applicant acknowledges and agrees that the Work (in whole or in part) may be reproduced and be widely utilized by the Organizer or its affiliated companies by means of broadcast (regardless of media), online transmission (including but not limited to the internet and mobile communications), exhibition, and distribution (e.g. in the form of a videogram). The applicant shall, prior to his/her submission of the Work, obtain all necessary permissions (royalty-free) from applicable third parties, if any, to enable the aforementioned utilization by the Organizer and its affiliates.

    With regard to Prize-winning Works, the Organizer (including its affiliate companies) shall have the right of first negotiation with respect to acquiring the right of utilization of said Work until 12months after the official announcement of the Award results. The details of the conditions for such use shall be stipulated in a separate agreement, which shall be based on a good faith negotiation between the Organizer and the applicant.

    For the sole purpose of publicizing the Award and the future DigiCon6 Awards, the Organizer shall have the right, without notice to the applicant, to utilize the Work in whole or in part by means of broadcast (regardless of media), online transmission (including but not limited to the internet and mobile communications), exhibition, and distribution (e.g. in the form of a videogram) free of any payment to the applicant, in perpetuity. The organizer further reserves the right to edit and/or make changes to the Work, as necessary in order to abide by its own broadcast standards or those stipulated by the National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan.

  10. Return of Submitted Materials

    Due to the large number of entries received, submitted materials will not be returned to the applicant.

  11. Review and Judgment

    All submitted Works are reviewed and judged by members of the TBS DigiCon6 Awards jury. TBS DigiCon6 Headquarters guarantees the process is carried out fairly and justly; however, the criteria of judgment will not be disclosed.

  12. Results

    The winners of JAPAN regional Awards and 14th TBS DigiCon6 Awards will be announced at the TBS DigiCon6 Awards Ceremony on November 16, 2012. The official results will be made available on the official web site following the announcement.

  13. Terms and Conditions
    • 1) By entering your work in the TBS DigiCon6 Awards competition, you are agreeing to abide by the following Terms and Conditions.
    • 2) The applicant shall accept, agree, and comply with the administrative policy, method of administration, and administrative decision regarding the Awards, and shall not make objections to the same.
    • 3) If any of the submitted materials are incomplete, TBS DigiCon6 Headquarters reserves the right to refuse entry.
    • 4) All applicants shall be held responsible for everything his/her Work represents.
    • 5) The music and sound used in the Work must be copyright-free and/or created and exclusively owned/controlled by the applicant and is not under the control of any music rights administration societies such as JASRAC or similar organizations having jurisdiction in Japan. Any use of copyrighted material is strictly prohibited.
    • 6) In the case of any conflict or claim made from any third party in regards to the Work, the applicant shall solely and completely be responsible for the settlement of the same, and shall not cause any trouble or inconvenience to other applicants, TBS DigiCon6 Headquarters, or the affiliated parties.
    • 7) TBS DigiCon6 Headquarters will reserve the right to void and take back an award in the event that the award recipient has violated the Terms and Conditions.
  14. Translation Disclaimer

    The Entry Rules are a translation of the original Entry Rules written in Japanese for the purpose of providing non-Japanese speakers with information regarding the DigiCon6 Awards. In the case of any discrepancy between the translation and the original Japanese version, the Japanese version shall rule.
